Online Tennis Instruction (OTI) review
Video stroke coaching for players stuck with a weak serve, forehand or backhand

Is it worth it?
You've played for a few years and hit a wall. Your serve is a liability, or your forehand falls apart the moment someone puts real pace on the ball, and the lessons you've paid for haven't fixed it. The pro feeds from the other side of the net, says something about your wrist, and you drive home no clearer. That gap is what Online Tennis Instruction is aiming at. The idea is simple. You film your strokes on a phone, send them in, and a coach trained in the OTI method tells you the one or two things to change instead of the ten things that are technically true. Filtering down to the fewest useful fixes is sound teaching, and seeing your own swing is often the whole point, because what you feel you're doing and what you're actually doing are rarely the same. Be clear about the headline claims, though. The page leads with a student hitting 115mph first serves and another becoming a top-ranked 3.5 player in Texas, with "individual results may vary" underneath. Those are the seller's best cases, not what a typical buyer should expect. And it can't give you court time. Video feedback only pays off if you go back out and grind the change in, which takes weeks and usually feels worse before it feels better.
Pros
- Seeing your own stroke on video is genuinely clarifying
- Focuses on a couple of fixes rather than overwhelming you
- You work at your own pace, no scheduling around a pro
- Coaches specialise in technique rather than just feeding balls
Cons
- Recurring billing, so check what you're actually signed up for month to month
- The page doesn't state price, feedback turnaround, or how many video submissions you get
- Clinics are a separate cost plus travel, and the big testimonial results carry a results-may-vary note
What you get
Online video programmes built around single strokes (the serve, the forehand and so on), delivered through a members area, plus the part that matters: you film your own swing, upload it, and an OTI-trained coach sends back marked-up video telling you which one or two things to change. In-person clinics (one day serve, two day technique, week-long trips) are sold separately.
Before you buy
- Confirm the billing cycle, the cancellation process and the refund window before paying
- Check how many video reviews are included and how fast feedback comes back
- Make sure you can actually film yourself (tripod or a willing partner) and get regular court time
Who it suits
Club players around 3.0 to 4.5 who practise regularly, can film themselves, and want technique fixed rather than drills
