Is it worth it?
You catch your reflection in a lift mirror, or someone tags you in a photo, and the lines around your eyes are just there now, even when your face is still. Foundation settles into them by lunchtime. You've been putting this off, and now it's late and you're reading about serums. Synevra Lift & Lock is two products. The serum leans on SYN-AKE, a synthetic peptide sold as a snake venom mimic, meant to soften expression lines. It's a genuine cosmetic ingredient, not a gimmick, but most of the testing behind it comes from the people who supply it, and the studies are small. The rest is hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E and glycerin, which is a sensible, fairly ordinary hydration and antioxidant mix. Expect plumper, better hydrated skin within a week or two. Lines looking softer takes longer and tends to be subtle. Notice the page says "appearance of" throughout. That is the honest ceiling on what a cosmetic can promise. The VitaLock capsules are the weaker half. Biotin, zinc and B6 do matter for skin and nails, but topping up only does much if you were short to begin with. Day to day it's easy: a few drops on clean skin morning and night, moisturiser over the top, capsule with food. The claimed results come from testimonials, not trials.

- Ask how many millilitres a bottle holds and roughly how many weeks it covers
- Patch test on your jaw first if you react to vitamin C or fragrance
Who it suits
Someone with dry, dull skin who wants a simple serum and has realistic expectations. If you're after a real change in deep wrinkles, save the money towards a retinoid or a dermatologist.
