Is it worth it?

You've probably done the diet thing before. It worked for five weeks, then life got busy and the weight came back. Usually what broke it wasn't willpower, it was that the food was dull and you were cooking twice, once for you and once for everyone else. That's the gap Metabolic Cooking goes for. It's a recipe collection from Karine Losier and Dave Ruel built around quick prep, lean protein and normal supermarket ingredients, with desserts included so the evening sweet tooth has somewhere to go. One thing to be clear about. The page promises fat burning ingredients and fat torched in record time. No evidence is offered for that, and food doesn't act on your metabolism in any dramatic way. What a cookbook like this genuinely can do is make a sensible week of eating pleasant enough that you stick with it, which is the part that actually moves the scale. Judge it on that. Day to day you use it like any recipe book. Pick three or four meals on Sunday, shop once, batch cook what reheats well. If you already cook confidently and own a shelf of healthy cookbooks, there may not be much new here. If your repertoire is five meals and you're bored of all of them, it does the job it is meant to do.

Pros

  • Short prep times and ordinary supermarket ingredients
  • Meals a family will eat, not separate diet food
  • Includes desserts, which helps people last longer
  • Downloads instantly, no waiting for a parcel

Cons

  • Fat burning claims are stated with no evidence behind them
  • Billing is recurring, which the sales page does not make obvious
  • No clear list of what files, how many recipes, or how many pages

What you get

A digital recipe collection you download and read on a phone, tablet or printed out. The recipes are built around short prep times, everyday supermarket ingredients and family friendly meals, with a dessert section included. It is sold with a nutrition rationale about fat burning foods rather than as a plain cookbook. The page does not list exact files or page counts, so check that before paying.

Before you buy

  • Confirm on the order page whether it is a one off charge or a rebill, and how to cancel
  • Check the refund window and terms before you pay, not after
  • If you are vegetarian, have allergies, or cook for fussy eaters, check the recipes are not mostly meat based

Who it suits

Someone who is bored of their own cooking and wants easy, family friendly meals that fit a fat loss plan
